How hosted prices are set
Each hosted node is an isolated container slice of a non-burstable AWS instance (m7i.2xlarge, 8 vCPU and 32 GB, us-west-2) with its own encrypted disk. Memory is never overcommitted.
The price is our expected AWS cost for the slice, including a share of unused capacity, times 1.5, rounded up to the dollar. We recheck AWS prices monthly and give 30 days' notice before any change.

Proration
Add or remove a hosted node any day. You pay only for the days left in the month: days remaining ÷ days in the month × the monthly price. Removing a node credits the same way.
Questions
- Does Z4 pay for or resell AI usage?
- No. You connect your own AI accounts, and your provider bills you directly under its own terms.
- Do I need a hosted node?
- No. Your own machines work as nodes at no charge. Hosted nodes are there when you want more capacity or a second node.
- Where do cloud agents run?
- On machines Z4 runs for you in the cloud. Agents on your own computer run there and nowhere else.
- Which AIs can I connect?
- Claude and ChatGPT at launch, with more to follow.
- What happens if I add a node mid-month?
- You pay for the days left in the month, and removing one credits the unused days the same way.
